Musician Vs Technician week 4.

Today my band and pod 6's band were the recording artist as we reformed our old band to record an old original song. We were being produced by pod 2.

After finding out we would be joining together to record an old original song, we decided upon myself, Millie, and Nathan to record guitar, bass, and drums in the live room. Ryan and Marco had set up the drum kit with microphones ready for Nathan to play. Millie and myself set up our own gear as I connected up my guitar and pedal into the cab, with Marco setting up a mic centre to the cone.

We did have our equipment up and running fairly quickly, however we did have issues with headphones and not being able to hear ourselves. After spending some time trying to sort the issue out by using different types of headphones and still having no luck we decided to just record the song and just manage without hearing ourselves.

We had a run through of the song before we were ready to record and after that we went straight into recording. After we finished the take we went into the master room to listen to how it sounded, only to find out the bad news that the bass and guitar were hardly picked up on the recording, due to on cubase they were set in stereo and not mono.

So we had to go and set up our instruments again and do another take. After waiting about 5-10 minutes they were ready for us to record. We finished it in one take and packed up.
