Musician vs Technician week 2 - Performing.
Today we were the performing band on stage, and had to perform a few songs once we had our soundcheck and were happy with everything. We had Lads on tour as our stage technicians setting up our equipment and giving us anything we need.
They were quick with grabbing us any leads we needed and setting them up. I didn't require any leads or equipment as I bring my own, so all I needed was to for somebody to set up my pedal, something I could do quickly myself but that was the point of having technicians, so we didn't need to do anything ourselves.
I talked Andrea through setting up my pedal as she hasn't done that before, and after replacing a lead connecting the cab to the head I was ready to go.
I had a few issues with my volume myself, and although I had signalled the sound guys to turn me up, they told me I needed to turn up my amp. After I played around I finally got the volume I needed to hear myself.
Review on Lads on tour as technicians and sound engineers:
All in all they did a good job of grabbing any equipment and helping us set up fast and efficiently, and the same goes for the sound guys. Although I feel they could have used talk back a bit more to get all of the bands attention, as some of us were tatting around on stage and not focused at times.
Apart from that I feel they all did a very good job, levels were good, and I felt like we were in competent hands who knew what they were doing.
