Jerome's song conception and my first original song for the band.

On Monday we began writing an original song based around a funky hook I showed to the rest of the band. From there we started thinking on how to structure the song, how to have all the instruments work around the main hook etc.

We began on working from the beginning of the song, discussing on how to have it start. Should we have the guitar start the song by itself, or maybe have the drums be the one to start and have the other instruments join in? We decided on having the drums start with a small solo before all joining in with Jerome.

After deciding on this we started thinking about how many times to play the intro for before we change to a verse, while we didn't have a solid verse finished on Mondays session, we did have a chorus that Millie had came up with on the spot that fit perfectly for the song in my opinion.

By the end of the session we had a very rough skeleton for a song, but since that session there has been discussion among the bands on whether everyone believes that we can make it into a song. Personally I believe we are on to a very good song and hope to continue writing it at home so I can bring in new ideas for it.

Yesterday We also began trying to work on another original song that Jerome has had for a while. It was an Idea he had in our last band together but nothing came of it so this time we are hoping to turn it into an actual song.

While the melody he has is very solid, we were having problem on working out what to do with it, where to take it next etc. We had James come in and help with give us some ideas on what he thinks we could do with it.

He said that we were all trying to play the same catchy melody too similar to each other and so our sounds clashed with one another.

This Idea is very early stages but I hope to see it progress as the weeks go on.
