Re-recording guitar for original track False Hope" with old band.

Today my old band and I had a studio session to re-record some parts for our original song. We re-recorded both lead and rhythm guitars from start to finish as we felt that we could do much better.

First Attempt:

I went in to the live roomand plugged my guitar into the marshall cab and adjusted the settings to find the right tone, as the tone we had recorded for my guitar sounded too "muddy" in our opinion. After I had my settings adjusted we began our first take which i messed up during the intro. This would happen during the same part for multiple takes until I had to take a break and swap with millie so she could record her rhythm parts.

The intro I had kept making mistakes on is nothing I can't play normally, but a combination of my hands still being a bit cold due to bad circulation was the main cause. However because I was getting so frustrated with myself that I kept making mistakes, I began getting frustrated with myself and thus each take getting worse.

Second attempt:

I headed back into the live room after taking a bit of a break and I still couldn't play the notes smoothly and as quickly as I have before. After this had happened for a second time I decided to slightly alter my guitar part to compensate for not being able to play fast and smooth enough. After doing so I had the intro recorded in the first take of altering the piece which was a great relief for me.

I then carried on recording the rest of the track which stress free. I suppose you just have some days where everything flows effortlessly and some days where you just get a mental block.

Finally I had my part re-recorded and finished much to my delight. However I did learn from this experiance that I overthought my part a lot not wanting to make mistakes and in turn I had over complicated it and caused the very thing I didn't wish to happen.
